FORT MYERS, FLORIDA (May 7, 2014) Southwest Florida may have been the envy of the country during the “Polar Vortex” this winter. But, as the summer heat draws nearer, it’s not quite as appealing. Now that spring is in full effect, year round residents of Florida know what is just around the corner: pool parties, barbecues, and overworked air conditioners.

In preparation for “can’t live without air conditioning” season," United Mechanical, Inc. (UMI) announces the debut of its latest eBook, 12 Tips to Consider Before Replacing Your Air Conditioning System. The goal of this eBook is to ensure that people are prepared, should their a/c unit take a turn for the worst.

“Knowing the best time to replace your air conditioner can often be a difficult decision, especially if your current system has broken down,” said UMI Owner, Mike Clark. “You have to balance out whether you should have it repaired, or if it’s more cost effective in the long run to replace it.”

Prior to the release of this eBook, UMI released an eBook about Nine Things to Check Before Spending Money on AC Repairs.

“Once you’ve gone through the checklist in our last eBook, and have determined your a/c unit does indeed need to be repaired, you should weigh out the options for repair vs. replacement,” added Clark. “That’s where this eBook will prove very helpful.”

12 Tips to Consider Before Replacing Your Air Conditioning System outlines various factors to consider about air conditioners, while still keeping the reader entertained with lighthearted writing that’s easy to understand and not too technical.

Just a few of the topics discussed in the eBook include:

  • Deep, Dark, Cold Secrets of Air Conditioning Equipment
  • Is Your Air Conditioner Making You Money?
  • What is Your Air Quality of Life?
  • “It’s Not Me, It’s You” – When Should You Break Up With Your Old Air Conditioning Unit
  • “If You Like it Then You Better Put a Ring On It” – Air Conditioning Warrantees
  • Gluten-Free, Green Air Conditioning Systems
  • Even Cleaner, Greener Air

The eBook points out how these are all things to seriously consider before going into “meltdown” mode after an a/c malfunction. In addition, the book outlines a brief glossary of “techy-terms” that are used in the air conditioning industry. The hope is that Southwest Florida residents will be educated and empowered to make wise decisions when it comes time to repair or replace their a/c unit.

According to Clark, “Factors ranging from which air conditioning contractors to use, to budget, to energy efficiency are all something that should be taken into consideration before someone is sitting in the heat and making hasty decisions.”

12 Tips to Consider Before Replacing Your Air Conditioning System is the latest eBook in UMI's free HVAC eBook library. This eBook, as well as previous eBooks and educational resources are all available for free download.
